Who Is The Play-By-Play Guy In The Cincinnati-Syracuse Game?

I'm flipping channels and began watching Cincinnati-Syracuse.

One of the announcers in this game is terrible. I think he's the play by play guy but I'm not sure, nor will I watch this game long enough to find out.

In the last 10 minutes TBD PBP Guy said (I'm paraphrasing since I didn't transcribe the comments nor do I have TiVo):

"(Syracuse QB Greg) Paulus is ready to lead his football team today" - This comment was made after a Syracuse TD.

Fucking A man. # 1 every QB is ready to lead his team by the fact that he is the quarterback and lines up under center. # 2 even though he's ready to lead his team, lead them where? Cincinnati is going to win like 42-10.

"(Defensive Coordinator Scott) Shafer is concerned to not giving up the big play to Cincinnati."

This was said after Zach Collaros hooked up with Armon Binns for a 81 yard touchdown play. Maybe Shafer should have been concerned before that play. Also, there was no mention about the TD which seems like an important thing to leave out.

"It's Halloween. Plenty of orange to go around."

Yes, it is Halloween. Yes the colors most associated with Halloween are orange and black. But there's also a lot of orange because Syracuse is the FUCKING ORANGE and everything at that school is orange. That's probably why there is so much orange.

Also the game gave us arguably this most meaningless stat of all time history:

Syracuse is 15-2 on Halloween

You wanna know why people hate on statistics? It's this. This is the reason why. What the fuck does Syracuse's 21-0 win against Holy Cross on October 31, 1953 have to do with anything related to anything. Completely different team. Eisenhower was President. The first Chevrolet Corvett was built at Flint, Michigan. It was a very different time. The fact that Syracuse had a great record on Halloween tells me two things: either Syacuse has been a historically good football team or that they randomly and because of nothing tangible happened to win a bunch on Halloween. That will not affect anything in this game because Cincinnati will win 53-7.

And Cincinnati just ran a fake FG and threw for a TD. The rout is on.

  1. That's harsh man, what did the Cincy-Syracuse announcers ever do to you? You're being nitpicky.

  2. I'm sorry. I think I was a bit more ornery since I don't have a girlfriend and it was Halloween, the most romantic secular holiday currently on the American calendar.
