Common Questions and Answers To Those Questions

What is the point of your blog?

There is really no point. It's more of a hodgepodge of thoughts, beliefs and opinions. A few months ago Zombie approached Captain and Joe about creating a blog. It was a forum meant to keep us together since Joe and Captain do not have Myspace or twitter or Facebook.

Captain came up with the title "Sunny Side Of Mars" as a way to describe our journey into an unknown venture and to hopefully put a good spin on the blog. We are hoping to provide a flippantly alternative perspective on the world. Zombie thought the name fit our goal and created the blog.

We also don't really focus on any particular topic or person. The à la carte approach isn't coincidental. Our overall attitude is to discuss traditional topics, major or minor news stories and whatever is percolating around inside our brains and to provide commentary with our own outlooks and inflections. We want to entertain ourselves and if anyone reads these posts, great. Our goal isn't to piss anyone off or change the world, rather we want to give ourselves a reason to smile throughout the turbulence of our lives.

Zombie Lovage seems cool. Can I date her?

At the present moment she has a boyfriend but I'm sure is always looking to upgrade. When you email her include your picture, hobbies and a copy of your bank statement.

Why do you have aliases yet attack other people? Shouldn't your accuser have the right to face you? Why are you guys assholes?

Good question(s).

This is something we've struggled with when we created the blog. None of us are full time bloggers or making money off of the internet. We all have jobs outside of SSOM that deal with any number of individuals. Being a nurse, haberdasher and accountant, we thought it best not to have our employers find out who we are. The way the world works, if Joe says "I work with a jackass named Jerry Obodiak and I wish he would die from rectal trauma" and Jerry finds out, trouble will be ahead. It may seem unfair but we want to voice our thoughts with some anonymity. Perhaps one day we will post our identities but for now we'd rather stay quiet.

As for what we discuss, some of the posts are antagonistic in nature. It is not that we're unsympathetic desolate human beings void of compassion and prefer to castigate others on our little soap box. We may come across like dicks sometimes and occasionally do regret our tone and fervor approach on particular topics. We don't have any definite nefarious purpose however and our brothers, sisters, boyfriends, girlfriends and pets could vouch for us being good people at heart.

Picture us sitting around our homes, having a beer and writing what ever comes to mind. No one is typing with intense detestation saying "fuck you Kanye West. I hope you rot."

I posted a comment but did not see it on the blog. What gives?

Some good comments we will leave up, but we want to have a little control on this site. Some sub-discourse can get disrespectful and while our posts are sometimes disparagingly forward, we respect other people and their beliefs. We don't want the site littered with racial and ethnic slurs/insults or attacks on personal beliefs and ways of life. If you choose to voice your opinion on a subject and we feel it is a valid point, we may discuss it in the comments section, and give you the recognition you deserve, or leave your comment posted. Our goal is to keep this a small community and not have a few commenters disrespect the posters or other readers through ignorance or hate.

I'm a talented writer. In fact, I'm way more talented than you. Can I post on the blog?

Sorry. Like the above question, we want to keep this a small community and not have just anyone post blogs. We have no doubt that you are talented as we are all fairly shitty writers to begin with. At least Captain and Joe are shitty. If we ever decide to have a special guest writer, we will let you know.

I see that Joe likes the Iowa Hawkeyes. Does he know they suck?

Yes but he will still love them anyway.

Some of the links and info on your site is wrong. Why is that?

None of us know anything about web design. Sorry about the errors. We will correct them as quickly as possible.

Are you all sports fans?

Yes. We talk about a lot of topics but sports will always be a recurring one. If you hate sports you may not be the biggest fan of this site.

How do I become a member?

There is a link to the right of the page where you can follow us and be our homey. Click that. Eventually we'd like to give away some prize to our members but we're not there yet. Also we have like no members.

I am an eccentric millionaire who has gone temporarily insane and wants to spend all of his or her money. Your site is so cool and I want to give you money. How can I give you money? Also, will you have SSOM merchandise to sell?

We are working to creating a merchandise link and having some tee shirts and mugs and other goodies. For right now we are posting a group of websites at the top right of the page which will include various products we endorse, have used and that we recommend. None of us are well off, but we do live comfortably and would like to provide our readers with services and products we feel can better your life. Of course we don't take responsibility for the products and services. Although they may have worked for us it does not mean it will work for you. Additionally if anyone wants to advertise on the blog (assuming you want your ads to be seen by like twelve people), please let us know.

With love and admiration,
SSOM
